Film "Mi Querida España"
Inspired by the monologue *Dos Cojones*, this film tells the journey of Samuel, a man who decided to confront the expectations of his environment and his family's rejection to pursue two dreams: to be his true self and to dedicate his life to a field that often feels relentless—the world of entertainment.
From a very young age, Samuel understood that living his truth—being a gay man and aspiring to be an actor—would place him under critical scrutiny and in a professional environment filled with uncertainty. Choosing a path marked by sacrifices, struggles, and frustrations, his story reflects the challenges faced by those who decide to follow their passion against all odds.
Samuel's trauma dates back to his childhood, when a poster of Raúl Bova, hidden in his room, became the trigger for his abandonment. His father, unable to accept what the poster represented, rejected him, leaving Samuel with a wound that would mark him forever. The poster, a symbol of admiration and dreams, was also the first reflection of a deep conflict between who he wanted to be and what the world demanded of him.
Years later, Samuel's life takes an unexpected turn when Ruben, his partner and greatest support, hides his terminal illness to ensure Samuel accepts a professional opportunity in Italy, ironically with the same Raúl Bova who had triggered his initial rejection. This journey forces him to confront his fears, the scars of his past, and the concept of sacrifice as a form of love and redemption.
Samuel understands that he cannot live like the bull, blindly charging into danger, driven by fear. He must become the matador: someone who, with determination and courage, confronts his demons and takes control of his life. The matador doesn’t merely fight against external forces but dances with them, transforming pain into power.
Mi Querida España addresses deeply relevant themes: social rejection, the precariousness of the artistic world, and the courage to be authentic in an environment that doesn't always allow it. It is a reflection on how the past can become our greatest strength, and on sacrifice as the purest act of love.
Theatrical Monologue "Dos Cojones"
A journey
to discover yourself
Dos Cojones is a part of me
Through Samuel's story, a man who struggles to accept who he truly is, I want to talk about courage, identity, and sacrifice.
I would like this monologue to inspire reflection on how difficult, yet essential, it is to recognize ourselves for who we truly are, beyond the expectations of others.
I want to address themes that I consider universal and deeply relevant: the conflict between what we desire and what is imposed on us, the weight of social conventions, and the freedom to rewrite our lives. I’m not looking to provide answers but to spark questions. I would like every viewer to see a part of themselves in Samuel because, in the end, we all struggle to find our place in the world.
Samuel's pink horns are not just a symbol of rebellion but an invitation to see life in different colors, without fear of being different.
